MARK WYLLIE & 'THE DRAKES OF HAZARD'
The show you've been waiting for!!
At the 2009 Ayr County Show The Drakes of Hazard will perform on Saturday and Sunday, 2 shows each day
in The Main Ring. Firstly the dogs are introduced to their audience as well as the 15 or so ducks. The tenacious Indian Runner Ducks will then skip with a nonchalant laid-back arrogance as they jaunt across the two infamous bridges; the 'Golden Yolk Bridge' and the rope bridge, know to strike terror unto lesser fowl, the 'Bridge over the River Quack'. The fun doesn't stop there - the ducks will then run through the long, dark and mysterious 'Bermuda Tunnel' not to mention the feather-ruffling 'Tower of Doom' requiring great courage and a leap of faith to complete it safely. The ducks end each performance by sliding down the Ben Lomond Chute into a pool of ice-cold water.
Children will have the opportunity to meet both dogs and ducks at the end of the show.
Owl Magic will be bringing along a Bird of Prey display with a full range of owls to suit all age groups from very young children to adults.
The Young Farmers Tug O War Competition will take place in the main ring on Saturday at 12 noon.
The Vintage Tractors will attend with a static display setting the theme of 'Winter'.
The Scottish Home Front Living History will also be in attendance with a display of 'Land Army era'.
The RHET (Royal Highland Educational Trust, Entertainments and Food & Craft Marquee is packed full of fun. We have 40 food and craft stands attending and entertainment from Billy DJ and Friends, Ready Steady Icing Cakes, Aileen Robertson School of Dancing and 'Leroc Dancers'.
We have two bands attending 'Split the difference' and 'The Grousebeaters' who are a 10 piece ulster scots folk band.
